On March 26, the launch event of the "Maoming Tilapia" regional public brand was held at the China Agricultural Film and Television Center in Beijing. This event marks the official debut of this "world fish" that reaches over 70 countries and regions under a unified and standardized regional public brand image, completing the critical industrial upgrade from "product-driven" to "brand-led."

During the event, Wang Lejun, former Chief Veterinary Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; Wang Xiaohui, Standing Committee Member and Vice Mayor of Maoming City; Chen Liying, Deputy Director of the China Agricultural Film and Television Center; and Wu Li, Deputy Secretary-General of the World Chinese Catering Industry Federation, among other distinguished guests, jointly launched the ceremony with a handprint activation. They unveiled the new logo and brand slogan of "Maoming Tilapia" and held the first batch of brand licensing ceremonies, laying a solid foundation for quality management through standardized practices and strengthening industrial collaboration.

Lou Xiangpeng, brand strategy consultant for Maoming Tilapia and founder of Beijing Fulai Consulting, provided an in-depth interpretation of the brand system. He emphasized using the brand as a key tool to address the pain points of "having an industry but lacking strong brands" and "having quality but lacking market premium," driving the strategic transformation of Maoming Tilapia from an "export king" to a "national hit" and from scale advantage to value advantage.
According to the introduction, tilapia ranks first among the eight major freshwater fish in protein content, with DHA levels far exceeding those of grass carp, basa fish, and other common freshwater species. It is boneless, tender, and highly versatile in cooking, making it a high-protein, low-fat, and cost-effective healthy food ingredient with vast domestic market potential. The innovative product showcase at this launch event was a highlight. From whole frozen fish, butterfly-cut tilapia, and boneless fillets to black pepper fish steaks, canned fish, and puffed fish skin, and further to newly developed tilapia bread and dumplings, the event presented a comprehensive product matrix of Maoming Tilapia, offering an immersive brand experience that allowed attendees to directly appreciate the product's core advantages.

In her speech, Wang Xiaohui, Standing Committee Member and Vice Mayor of Maoming City, Guangdong Province, reaffirmed Maoming's determination to strengthen the "Maoming Tilapia" regional public brand and lead industrial upgrades through branding. Mao Dezhi, Party Secretary and Director of the China Agricultural Film and Television Center, also highly praised the development achievements of Maoming Tilapia and provided professional guidance for the brand's long-term growth.
It is understood that Maoming is known as the "Tilapia Capital of China" and the "Global Core Advantage Zone for Tilapia Industry." The local tilapia farming area exceeds 260,000 acres, with annual production accounting for about one-seventh of the national total. The entire industry chain's output value has surpassed 10 billion yuan. In 2025, Maoming Tilapia and its products achieved an export volume of 117,000 tons, ranking first nationally, with an export value of 2.08 billion yuan. In 2025, Maonan District of Maoming City successfully applied to create a National Modern Agricultural Industrial Park for Tilapia, demonstrating a robust industrial foundation. After years of cultivation, "Maoming Tilapia" has been recognized as China's most influential regional public brand for aquatic products and a renowned regional public brand for high-quality agricultural products in Guangdong Province. It ranks 17th in the "2023 Top 100 Regional Agricultural Industrial Brand Influence Index in China," is listed among the "Top Ten Regional Public Brands of Chinese New Year Fish," and is included in the "Top 100 Influential Brands for Rural Revitalization and Agricultural Power Construction." The strong momentum of the "Maoming Tilapia" regional agricultural industrial brand continues to grow.
